Ben Goldscheider - Mozart Horn Concertos [CD]

Ben Goldscheider performs all four of Mozart’s horn concertos with the Münchener Kammerorchester on this solo instrumental CD. Presented in reverse order, from the Fourth Concerto to the First, the album offers a fresh perspective on works central to the horn repertoire.

Written for Mozart’s friend, horn player Joseph Leutgeb, the concertos balance virtuosity and lyricism with a conversational relationship between soloist and orchestra. Goldscheider’s long familiarity with the works, from his early years as a horn player to international solo appearances, informs his interpretation; this release marks his PENTATONE debut.
