Saxon - Gods of Thunder [Vinyl]

Experience the 25th studio album from British heavy metal legends Saxon, Gods of Thunder, presented on vinyl. This album features ten powerful tracks that delve into a wide array of historically charged themes, from ancient mythology to the stark realities of royal history.

Produced by Biff Byford and mixed by Andy Sneap, Gods of Thunder showcases Saxon at the peak of their abilities, blending forceful performances with intricate storytelling. The music is characterized by the signature weight, dynamics, and complex arrangements that have long defined the band's sound, all while maintaining a cohesive and efficient structure.

Highlights include the relentless pace and mesmeric riff of "Medusa," and the anthemic journey into Celtic mythology found in the title track, "Gods of Thunder." Frontman Biff Byford's deep-seated passion for history is evident throughout, bringing past characters and events to life. Tracks like "The Bloody Tower (The Ballad of Anne Boleyn)" recount historical executions, while "Remember the Alamo" captures the fast-paced energy of early '80s NWOBHM. The album also features the prominent twin-guitar attack of Doug Scarratt and Brian Tatler, supported by the solid rhythm section of Nigel Glocker and Tim ‘Nibbs’ Carter. The album concludes with "MI5," a headbanging track exploring themes of the Berlin Wall and Cold War espionage.

Gods of Thunder stands as a focused and powerful statement from one of British heavy metal's most enduring bands, with Saxon delivering a performance that is as vital and uncompromising as ever.
