Mojave 3 - Spoon and Rafter

Experience the evolution of Mojave 3 with the remastered edition of 'Spoon and Rafter.' This album marks a significant sonic shift for the band, expanding their palette beyond echoes of singer-songwriters and alt-country into a vibrant, Technicolor soundscape. The record masterfully incorporates electronics, glockenspiels, melodica, and Beatlesque production techniques, creating a unique and expansive listening experience.

Album Significance:
Described by the band as a "bonkers album," 'Spoon and Rafter' benefited from the band having their own studio on the north Cornish coast. This allowed ample time for experimentation with various instruments and a more leisurely creative process, leading to what is considered by some to be their favorite record. The band entered a "Beach Boys phase," focusing on richer instrumentation and a fuller sound. The use of early Pro Tools for editing enabled longer, more orchestrated tracks, such as "Bluebird of Happiness," which features distinct sections recorded and assembled separately.

Notable Tracks:
The album's innovative approach led to tracks like "Bluebird of Happiness" and "Bill Oddity" being featured in episodes of the popular 2003 television series, The O.C., showcasing their surprising pop sensibilities.

This 2026 remaster, meticulously prepared at Abbey Road, offers a fresh perspective on this pivotal Mojave 3 release.
