Holy Wave - i'm DADA [Vinyl]

Holy Wave presents i'm DADA, a collection of songs born from conversations about modern life, exploring themes of fatherhood, partnership, breakups, and the accelerating pace of AI. Recorded in Ensenada, Mexico, with experimental duo Lorelle Meets the Obsolete, the album integrates community into its creation while maintaining a deeply personal emotional core. Mixing engineer Joo Joo Ashworth played a crucial role in refining the album's rhythmic language and expanding the band's signature sound.

This release sees Holy Wave stretching their characteristic woozy atmosphere into a leaner, more direct sound. The music features an increased use of loops and samples, creating constructed, cyclical, and hypnotic grooves. Some tracks evoke the spaciousness of dub, while others possess a cinematic, downtempo gravity. i'm DADA introduces a fresh sense of momentum, with rhythms that pull forward, dream-saturated textures, sheets of fuzz, and softly suspended vocals. Unlike previous works that often emphasized drift, this album feels grounded, with grooves that settle and repetitions that accrue weight. Holy Wave demonstrates a deliberate shaping of atmosphere amidst chaos, resulting in a sharpened and composed sound.
