Basement - WIRED [Vinyl]

WIRED marks a significant moment for the British Emo/Hardcore band Basement, serving as their first album in eight years and a powerful return to Run For Cover Records. This release captures the unbridled passion and creative intuition that has always defined their best material, presenting their most dynamic, daring, and inspired sound yet while retaining core fundamentals like growling guitars, rousing choruses, and striking emotional verbiage.

Basement, consisting of vocalist Andrew Fisher, guitarists Alex Henery and Ronan Crix, bassist Duncan Stewart, and drummer James Fisher since 2009, approached Wired with a renewed sense of purpose, determined to make it their most decisive artistic statement.

The album showcases variety, from the urgent, live-ready title track “WIRED” propelled by needling guitars and a skyscraping hook, to the delicate, bass-led moodiness of “Broken By Design.” The band drew inspiration from adventurous heroes like R.E.M., Interpol, and Smashing Pumpkins without imitating them, resulting in a sound that feels fresh yet fundamentally Basement. The title itself evokes the album’s steely sonics—metallic, sharp, and jagged—reflecting the band’s unshakeable tenacity as an analog act thriving in a digital world.
